In recent months, Mayor Bill de Blasio has shown his willingness to oppose Trump on immigration and other big issues affecting New Yorkers and their families. Now it is time for city government to challenge Trump on climate change.
As president, Trump is the climate change denier-in-chief, and his administration has already used executive action to roll back environmental protections from the Obama era. That means we will be even more vulnerable to the most harmful effects of climate change over the next few years.
While climate denialism from the Trump administration poses great threats, our city can fight back and become more resilient in the process.
