As the Trump administration threatens to dangerously roll back climate action at the national level, New York City has an opportunity to resist and fight back. This latest report by ALIGN shows that large buildings owned by Trump and Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law, are some of the biggest polluters and emitters of greenhouse gases in the city. New York City can and must take bold steps to fight climate change by requiring energy efficiency improvements at Trump’s and Kushner’s buildings, as well as other large buildings that are contributing to the crisis. Such measures will ensure that New York is on a clear path to a cleaner and more sustainable city, while simultaneously creating thousands of good-paying jobs each year.
