ALIGN launches CLCPA defense ads calling on NYS leaders: “Don’t Pull a Trump. Protect Our Climate Law.”

Today, ALIGN: The Alliance for a Greater New York launched ads in defense of the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA) as New York State budget negotiations continue and the law’s fate remains unclear. Governor Hochul has signaled her interest in further delaying the law’s mandates for greenhouse gas emissions regulations from 2030 to 2040 as well as shifting the way the state calculates emissions. 

ALIGN responds to threats to NY’s Climate Law

Today, Governor Hochul announced the details of her plan to weaken the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA) by further delaying greenhouse gas emissions regulations to 2030, extending other climate law targets, and shifting the way the state accounts for climate-heating emissions. In response, ALIGN Climate Director Jenille Scott released the following statement:

Raise Up NY coalition launches $30 NYC minimum wage campaign

Today, workers flooded City Hall to launch the $30 for Our City campaign, a new fight to raise the NYC minimum wage and deliver an urgent solution to our affordability crisis. Union leaders, workers, community groups, and businesses from the Raise Up NY coalition celebrated the introduction of the $30 for Our City Act (Int. 0757) — new legislation from Council Member Sandy Nurse to raise the wage floor for most New York City workers to $30 by 2030.
