ALIGN on Hochul’s Sustainable Future Program:
NY Needs Massive Investment in Clean Energy Infrastructure

ALBANY, NY – In response to the release of Governor Hochul’s Sustainable Future Program, ALIGN issued the following statement:

“A $200 million investment in Thermal Energy Networks (TENs) is an investment in good green union jobs and healthy communities — a shining example of the clean energy infrastructure New York needs on a mass scale. We’re also encouraged to see essential funding to accelerate renewable energy projects, green schools, energy efficiency projects, and decarbonization work.

“But since our state budget passed in the spring, the federal government has taken an ax to environmental and worker protections, set fire to our social safety net, and cleared the way for polluting corporations to destroy our planet for profit. The only reaction is action. In the years ahead, New York must aggressively accelerate climate action, invest in renewable energy, and fully implement Cap and Invest to make polluters pay for climate solutions and provide a consistent funding source that puts disadvantaged communities first. A sustainable future is ours to create or lose,” said Jenille Scott, ALIGN Climate Director
