New Yorkers are Tired of Waiting for a Budget that Fails Them
Albany, NY – In response to Governor Hochul’s conceptual FY2026 budget agreement, ALIGN issued the following statement:
“New Yorkers are tired of waiting. A month past the deadline, Governor Hochul’s conceptual budget fails to address the root causes of our affordability crisis and fails to keep us safe. While modest investments in childcare, child tax credits, and climate initiatives like thermal energy networks are encouraging, these improvements are no match for stagnant poverty wages and ruinously high energy bills, while criminalizing masking makes New Yorkers more vulnerable, not less. As our leaders at the city, state, and federal level fail to deliver for workers and our climate, New Yorkers are still waiting — and will keep fighting — for the green, affordable future we deserve,” said Theodore A. Moore, ALIGN Executive Director.
