Leading Amazon Critic Applauds Senate Committee Approval of Corporate Accountability Bill

New York – Maritza Silva-Farrell, a leading critic of Amazon in New York and Executive Director of ALIGN, released the following statement today in response to the New York State Senate Committee on Consumer Protection’s passage of the 21st Century Antitrust Act:

“Today, the NYS Senate Committee on Consumer Protection passed the 21st Century Antitrust Act—a huge victory and a critical step toward an economy that works for all New Yorkers. This bill has major support from small businesses, organized labor, and community organizations statewide because it would create opportunity for healthy competition not dominated by a few abusive big businesses, ensure that workers have a voice, and give our communities the chance to thrive in this great state, as we recover from the pandemic’s harmful impact. We thank Senator Gianaris for his leadership on this bill and urge the state legislature and Governor Hochul to enact it quickly; New York can lead the way in reining in runaway corporate power,” said Silva-Farrell of ALIGN.
