A coalition of unions and left-leaning activists are urging Mayor Bill de Blasio to create a "People's PlaNYC" before the Bloomberg-era sustainability plan expires in April.
In an open letter to be released at a City Hall rally Thursday, the groups call on Mr. de Blasio to infuse the city's sustainability plan with an anti-inequality message. "A people-centered PlaNYC could outline a new agenda that ensures the city's efforts to tackle climate change are interwoven with expanding economic opportunities through good-paying jobs that put New Yorkers to work creating a more resilient and sustainable city," they write.
Given the mayor's affection for combating the "tale of two cities," the group is not exactly fighting an uphill battle. (Read more here.)
