Chio Valerio-Gonzalez is the Campaign Director for Transform Don’t Trash. Chio emigrated from Mexico when she was 10 years old to Detroit, Michigan, where she saw first-hand the disinvestment in communities of color and reinvigorated her spirit to fight for social justice. Prior to coming to ALIGN, Chio was Labor Deputy Director at New York Communities for Change, where she helped develop low-wage worker strategic campaigns. She co-ordinated the Car Wash Campaign, and helped to win $15 for fast food workers and then all workers across the State. Chio earned her bachelors degree from the University of Michigan. Most recently Chio directed a summer program for new organizers through Fast Food Justice.
