ALIGN’s Board of Directors Announces the Leadership Transition of
Executive Director Matt Ryan
New York- On August 4th, the Alliance for a Greater New York’s (ALIGN) Board of Directors announced the upcoming leadership transition in November of Executive Director Matt Ryan. Matt Ryan has been the Executive Director of ALIGN for seven and a half years and, over this time, completed a successful merger that led to launching and winning several social justice campaigns that improved the lives of workers and residents in New York City.

We write today to announce an upcoming leadership transition at ALIGN. After seven and a half years with the organization, Matt Ryan will be departing as the Executive Director this November in order to pass the torch to a new leader. Matt started as Campaign Director of New York Jobs with Justice in 2009, completed the merger of NY Jobs with Justice and Urban Agenda to form ALIGN in 2010, and since that time led the organization to many important campaign victories and advanced long term community/labor movement building. He has contributed so much to ALIGN and we wish him the best as he moves on to his next endeavor.
Our next Executive Director will take leadership of a strong organization. We have been through leadership transitions before as NY Jobs with Justice and Urban Agenda and, like then, we believe this transition is an opportunity to grow and evolve as an organization.
We are well-positioned for a smooth transition. Our Leadership Transition Committee will be anchoring the transition process alongside Matt and with the support of ALIGN’s national networks, Jobs with Justice and the Partnership for Working Families.
