ALIGN responds to NYS Budget Deal:
Governor Hochul Falls Short in Covid Recovery and Climate Investments
New York – Maritza Silva-Farrell, Executive Director of ALIGN, released the following statement today in response to the New York State budget:
“We are encouraged to see Governor Hochul increase DOL funding to enforce worker protections, including NY HERO. But the budget fails to deliver true economic recovery in an enduring pandemic and undermines the landmark CLCPA climate policy that promised New York a sustainable future. It is disappointing to see the Governor maintain the status quo from the previous administration—this is a failure of leadership. We must invest in protecting the frontline low income and immigrant communities most affected by our public health and climate crises to ensure a just recovery for our state,” said Silva-Farrell of ALIGN.
