Vincent Alvarez, Eddie Bautista and Ismene Speliotis to receive awards

New York, NY—ALIGN is hosting its annual Movement Builders Awards on October 23 at 6 pm. The event is a celebration of leaders from labor, community and business who have been instrumental in building a movement to secure good jobs, vibrant communities, and an accountable democracy for all New Yorkers.

The Movement Builders Awards brings together more than 200 leaders and grassroots activists from the social, economic and environmental justice movement in New York City and beyond. This year’s honorees are:

  • Vincent Alvarez, President of the New York City Central Labor Council, for his outstanding leadership in building community-labor partnerships for a more equitable New York for all.
  • Eddie Bautista, Executive Director of the New York City Environmental Justice Alliance, for his vision and dedication to making climate justice a reality for all New York’s communities.
  • Ismene Speliotis, Executive Director of Mutual Housing Association of New York, for her tireless work in addressing the housing crisis and advocating for low-income communities in their struggle for truly affordable housing.

The evening’s presenters will highlight the innovative and inspiring work of the honorees.
