NEW REPORT ON NEW YORK’S $7 BILLION GAMBLE IN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT TO BE RELEASED AT STATE CAPITOL BRIEFING

With Another New Tax Subsidy Program Just Announced by Gov. Cuomo, Advocates to Highlight Need to Reform Existing Programs

New York, NY— On the heels of an announcement by Governor Cuomo of Tax-Free New York, a new economic development program, labor, community, environmental, faith, small business, good government and other advocacy groups will convene at the State Capitol to present findings from a new report, the $7 Billion Wager: New York’s Costly Gamble in Economic Development. The report, released by members of the Getting Our Money’s Worth coalition, analyzes data from dozens of current economic development programs, and, for the first time, examines in detail often unseen and uncounted state and local spending. Speakers will present report highlights and discuss solutions to ensure New Yorkers get our money’s worth from costly economic development subsidies.
